A word from the president...

G. K. Chesterton said, “Thanks is the highest form of thought.” I would like to follow Chesterton’s example and thank you all for your support and especially for your prayers for the Chesterton Academy of Fort Worth. The CAFW will be a high school, 9th through 12th grade, with a fully integrated classical curriculum centered on the Catholic faith. The board of the CAFW has made progress towards the goal of opening its doors to 9th grade students (and possibly 10th grade students), in the fall of 2023. Some of the steps we will take in the next few months are: 1) hosting the next in-person info session; 2) launching the CAFW website; 3) beginning the search for a headmaster; 4) fundraising; and 5) searching for a school location.

I look forward to seeing you at our next information session.  Best regards,

Carlos Crespo

President of the board CAFW

Exploring the Chesterton Model Curriculum

As you well know, Chesterton academies are both Catholic and classical: they provide a strong liberal arts education, with an emphasis on the good, true and beautiful. What distinguishes the Chesterton model curriculum from that of other classical institutions is its Incarnational approach: The mystery of the Incarnation is a central point of focus that is explored across subjects, providing a natural progression for coursework from year to year. The curriculum is also integrated, which means that students are taught to find unifying ideas and concepts and make connections between subjects and across academic years.

A Chesterton academy student begins freshman year studying the history, literature and philosophy of the ancient world. Theology classes begin with a focus on doctrine, sacraments, morality and prayer. In addition to geometry, physical science, music and art, students will also study Latin.

By the end of their senior year, students will have explored the modern world through history, philosophy and great works of literature. They will have a mastery of physics and calculus; completed a fourth year of Latin; refined their study of music and art; and completed their study of faith and theology with moral law and the Ten Commandments.
